The silent system on the U1 has been retro-fitted in Japan, and it is slightly older than the current models. The main difference will be in sound sampling. New models use a process called binaural sampling which has improved the digital sound quality significantly. Although you can hear the difference between the older system and the new, it still sounds amazing through the headphones no matter what model you are playing.
